My mission is to ignite sparks of wonder and hope
through my original, expressive art
&
to partner with those who purchase my art
to give back to non-profit organizations
creating a reverberating echo of love.

HEART echos by Christine
It was only during the pandemic that I started taking out my paints and brushes to just make art for the sake of making art. A small group from our high school graduating class decided to get together on Zoom to paint together, and I thought it sounded like fun so I joined them.
That freedom to just paint, without it being something that someone else asked me to do, quite quickly became a lifeline for me. It opened the door for me to experiment and simply enjoy creating and painting from an intuitive center of my being.
Even now, a couple years out from when so much was shut down and there was a definite feeling of unease, I find that I can still connect with that same simple joy just by picking up my brush and painting.
Love Much - 8x10 acrylic on paper - November 2020
(Little did I know when I painted this during the heart of the pandemic, that it would become what I now consider my signature piece for this website).
Like many artists I know, I struggle with self promotion. So I have come up with this solution to help me overcome that struggle. To have my art monetarily benefit nonprofit organizations that help people and our planet, that, I can wholeheartedly promote.
The price of my paintings is based on my costs to cover materials along with what I consider my gift--my time and talent--as a monetary amount added on.
The gift portion of your purchase will be donated to the designated 501c3 non-profit either by you or me depending on your desire to consider it a donation on your own tax filings.
Either way your purchased art is for you to enjoy
or even give to someone else, if you wish!
My most frequent medium of choice is acrylic paint. My subject matter comes from my own intuition, but my background in graphic art influences structure and layout. Combined with my experience as a decorative painter and calligraphy artist, that structure ends up being invited to dance with the less structured, freer wispy strokes.
Picking up paint and a brush guides me to thought, feelings, and meanings that I might not be able to find otherwise. The process of bringing abstract shapes and colors together into a cohesive whole often makes my mouth turn up in a little smile. I find a little "aha", a surprise, that fuels further exploration.
If I may, I borrow a quote I found from another artist who puts into words my why question better than I ever could:
"I make art to show my soul I am listening."
~ Pam Wiederspan Jones
Perhaps it is also the human need for connection and to belong that inspires me to paint.
"When we experience the beautiful,
there is a sense of homecoming."
from Beauty: The Invisible Embrace by John O'Donohue
My hope is that others might find that sense of connection as well when they view my art.

Never Out of the Blue - 24 x 30 acrylic of canvas unframed
$300
(Price calculation - $100 materials cost - $200 donation Friends of the Mississippi River)
Note: My gallery photos are an attempt at "anti-AI" if you will. What I am working on often migrates upstairs in front of our fireplace so I can get another perspective further away than I can on my easel and in different lighting. It also seemed like it could be a good place to photograph my work. So, I decided to try it for awhile.
